System Update Instructions for the Artis/Artis7 v1.21

UPDATE METHODS:

The Artis can be updated by one of two methods:

• Method (a): USB storage device
  requires: Computer (Mac or PC) with USB port + USB Storage device - such as a flash/thumb drive (drives drawing 100 mA or less are recommended).


• Method (b):direct USB connection to computer
  requires: Computer (Mac or PC) with USB port + USB cable.

UPDATE PROCEDURE:

1. Choose Update Method:

   (a) If updating via USB storage device (for ex. thumb drive) insert the device into to a free USB port on your computer.

   -OR-

   (b) If updating via USB-to-Computer connection, connect a USB cable between the Artis "Computer" USB port and any available USB port on your PC/Mac.

2. Enter SYSTEM MODE:

   Power the Artis OFF. Press/Hold the ENTER button and turn the Artis on. Release the ENTER button when the System Mode's menu of options appear on the screen:

   You will use the various "soft buttons" under the screen to control the update process.

3. Copy the Update File (.KUF):

(a) If updating via USB storage device: copy the included .KUF to the flash/thumb device using the method specific to your computer system. Once copied, safely eject/unmount the device before physically unplugging it from the computer's USB port. Once safely ejected, connect the device to the Artis "Storage" USB port.

(b) If updating via USB-to-Computer connection: at step 5 (below), when selecting "PC USB" as your update method, an Artis temporary "drive" will appear on your computer as a removable disk. At that time you will be instructed to copy (drag and drop) the .KUF update file to this temporary removable disk. Be sure to copy the ONE appropriate file when prompted. For now, proceed.

4. Press System Update:

5. Select Storage Type:

   Pick either-
   (a) USB Device (if installing from USB flash/thumb drive)
   -or-
   (b) PC USB** (if installing via direct USB-PC connection)

   Storage USB PC Device USB Back

   ** If choosing "PC USB" you will see a prompt on the Artis to copy the file now. On your computer, copy the .KUF update file to the temporary removable disk mounted on your computer. Once copied, safely eject the temporary removable disk from your computer, then press OK on the Artis to proceed.

   Copy File Copy file to Artis drive on your computer desktop. If already copied just press OK. OK CANCEL



6. Use the data wheel, UP and OK buttons to navigate to and select the .KUF file (asterisk ∗ placed next to selection):

   Select File (.KUF files only) \ * ARTSV121.KUF 4951K UP OK CANCEL



7. Press OK:

   Select File (.KUF files only) \ * ARTSV121.KUF 4951K UP OK CANCEL

   Various progress screens appear while the file is loaded.

8. Press OK when complete:

   Installed File ARTSV121.KUF was installed. OK



9. Power the Artis off and back on:

   The Artis will reboot to normal operating mode and is ready for use.

10. Confirm the OS and Objects were installed correctly: Once powered back up, go to GLOBAL mode, press the INFO menu soft button. Confirm you see the following:

    GlobalMode : SYSTEM INFO OS Version :2.28.1401 Object Version :1.10.9 MASTER MIDI INFO LOAD STORE RESET

    If for some reason the install did not complete properly, simply power off and repeat from the beginning (step 2).
