UPDATE METHODS:

The PC3LE can be updated by one of two methods:

UPDATE PROCEDURE:

!! Before updating, be sure to back up any custom programming as user memory will be erased in the process!!

If unfamiliar with the process, please see the following links (and/or Chpt. 11 in the LE manual) for details: "Backing Up the Entire User Memory"

  1. Obtain the latest system updates.

    - Go to PC3LE Downloads Section on our site.
    - Under O/S "Updates" download the current update package.
(Be sure to carefully read through the included Release Notes.)

  2. Choosing Update Method:

If updating via USB storage device (for ex. thumb drive) insert the device into to a free USB port on your computer.

    -OR-

If updating via USB-to-Computer connection, connect USB cable between PC3LE "Computer" USB port and any available USB port on your PC/Mac.

  3. Enter the Boot Loader:

Power the PC3LE OFF. Press/Hold the EXIT button and turn the PC3LE on. Release the EXIT button when the Boot Loader's menu of options appears on the screen:

                      Run Update Run System File
                      PC3LE Image Diags Reset Utilities

You will use the various "soft buttons" under the screen to control the update process.

(If connecting directly via USB a PC3LE device image/temporary-drive will appear on your desktop as a removable disk icon or a window).

  4. Copy the System Files:
  5. The software files need to be either (a) copied to a USB storage device and then physically transfered to the PC3LE -or- (b) sent to the PC3LE via direct USB cable connection.

    (a) To copy using a USB device: connect USB device to your computer, then copy the PC3 OS (PLEOS226.BIN), Object (PLEOB226.PLE) and Boot Loader (PLEBL138.KBB) files to the device using the method specific to your computer system. Eject the device from your computer then connect it to the PC3LE "Storage" USB port.

    (b) To copy directly via USB: when you entered the Boot Loader, connected to your computer (as detailed above) a PC3LE device image/temporary drive should have mounted on your computer (it may appear on your desktop as an icon or show up under 'removable devices' depending on the computer operating system). At various steps in this installation, you will be prompted to copy (drag and drop) certain files to this temporary removable disk. Be sure to copy the specified file(s) when instructed.
